Who we are and why we started
Kimba was founded in mind to combine fine art and sustainable, fairer clothing with the intention to create playful, minimal designs and cuts with easy fit, whilst championing a realistic and natural portrayal of women.
The designer Natalie Winter, originally from Essex, moved to London 10 years ago studying social politics at Goldsmiths University but keeping a foot in the creative arts, before launching her own sustainable clothing brand early 2018. Using her understanding from studies in international social and economic politics, she launched Kimba as a ecologically conscious brand that pushes for sustainability and fairer pay to developing nations by only using manufacturers that trade in fairtrade and organic material. In an age of what could be considered a lack of empathy and nationalist egos, Kimba aims to remind the need for balance and greater harmony in living.
All our clothing is hand-made by a small cooperative in southern India, 100% fairtrade and GOTs certified organic material and we aim to keep it this way!
